South Lake Leelanau is the larger half of the Leelanau Lakes and features good fishing for many species. There is a deep hole near the east boat launch that is known for good Brown Trout fishing in depths around 60 feet. Smallmouth Bass fishing is also best along the east shore in depths around 20 feet. South Lake Leelanau planted millions of Walleyes that has produced great results and the fishery is now thriving. The south end of the lake is typically the best area for successful Walleye fishing. South Lake Leelanau is connected to North Lake Leelanau via channel.
